Welcoming Alive in Jesus into Sabbath Schools
A Seamless Transition: Preparing for the New Curriculum with Free Training for Leaders of Baby Steps and Beginners
The GraceLink curriculum you have been accustomed to using over the years for your Sabbath School classes will be discontinued at the end of 2024 and a new curriculum, Alive in Jesus, will take its place in January of 2025. To make sure our children’s ministry leaders are prepared for this transition, the North American Division and Mid-America Union are providing a free training to help with this transition. The Baby Steps (birth-12 months) and Beginners (1-3 years) Sabbath School training will take place at the Mid-America Union headquarters.
Location: 8307 Pine Lake Rd. Lincoln, NE 68516
Date and Time: Sabbath of April, 13 from 9:00 am – 3pm Central Time (5.5 hours of training time)
Meals: Lunch and dinner will be provided.
The Baby Steps and Beginners in-person training will be provided in English and Spanish covering the following topics (no virtual option):
- Children’s Faith Development: The Sabbath School leader influences the child and the parents with opportunities to shape faith development.
- Multiple Intelligence: Using multiple intelligences in the Sabbath School.
- Special Needs: Using language that speaks to the heart of the parent to make your church a welcoming place for children of all abilities.
- Alive in Jesus Foundation, 3 Pillars and Framework: The Bible is the foundation and the method by which the goals of the curriculum are pursued. Three goals ( grace, character development, and mission) are the foundational pillars and feature in every student lesson and teacher’s guide.
- Baby Steps Sabbath School: Hands-on experience.
- Beginner Sabbath School: Hands-on experience.
The current goal is to launch Baby Steps and Beginners in January of 2025 and then Kindergarten, and Primary later that year. Junior, Teen, and Youth will be launched in 2026. The Alive in Jesus Bible curriculum seeks to equip and empower parents, caregivers, Sabbath School teachers, Sabbath School leaders, and others to model and foster a thriving relationship with Jesus and the children and youth in their spheres of influence. This curriculum seeks to facilitate a growing love for Jesus and His mission through supporting families and individuals in their daily study of God’s Word. The mission of the Alive in Jesus Sabbath School curriculum is to make disciples who make disciples.
With the Bible as its foundation, the Alive in Jesus curriculum introduces children and youth to Jesus by bringing the wonderful stories and lessons of the Bible into our twenty-first century lives, including a clear Seventh-day Adventist worldview and the 28 fundamental beliefs.
