Ethical Leadership

Pastors are called upon to adhere to a code of conduct that is becoming to the ministry. The great apostle agrees: "live a life worthy of the calling you have received." (Ephesians 4.1)

Some pastors may not innately know about appropriate boundaries, ethics, common accepted practices, etc. Especially early in their life as a pastor, do all you can to transmit the values, practices, and ethical underpinnings of appropriate behavior and decorum in pastoral leadership. Even seasoned pastors can slip into behaviors and practices that compromise them or their ministries.

Here's a well thought-through document from Southeastern California Conference on Moral & Ethical Leadership expectations of their pastors.

Also, here's an excellent Bibliography on pastoral ethics from CHMN543 - Christian Leadership in a Changing World from SDATS.
