One of the ministerial director’s best friend is an accurate record system. There are simply too many pastors and churches and processes to keep straight. There are some good software tools available which can be of great assistance. (Ask Mic Thurber about his program. It is excellent.)
But what are the categories to keep in mind that whether one uses an all-encompassing software tool, databases on one’s computer or scraps of paper in one’s suit pocket (not on the latter!) They can be as follows:
•Prospective Pastors (see Vetting and Interview Questions)
•Expense Reports
•Continuing Education for Pastors (adventistlearningcommunity.com is the portal used for this purpose in the NAD)
•Church Board notes
•Pastor Visit notes
•Personal Growth notes
•Pastor Visitation record
